The University of Alabama offers various avenues for students, faculty, and organizations to promote their events, services, and activities through the Student Center’s advertising services. Whether it’s through digital signage, information tabling, or complying with the university’s grounds use policies, these options provide effective ways to reach the campus community. These services are designed to ensure that promotional efforts are visible and aligned with university standards, helping create a dynamic environment for communication across the campus.
Digital Signage

Vertical phone-charging kiosks can be found in the Great Hall, Alma Mater Lounge, Source Lounge and right outside The University of Alabama Supply Store. Horizontal signage can be found above elevator entrances on all three floors as well as the Alma Mater Lounge.
Grounds Use Policies
Use of The University of Alabama Student Center Plaza, Student Center Lawn, and Crimson Promenade are governed by The University of Alabama Student Center and do not require a Grounds Use Permit. However, the use of these locations must follow the University’s Grounds Use Policy.
Chalking

Outdoor Signage
The placement of printed advertising or promotional materials in or outside of The University of Alabama Student Center must be coordinated in advance with the Student Center Events Coordinator. Such placement of printed materials is subject to established guidelines.
Campus Merchandising
The University Supply Store, as mandated by The Board of Trustees of The University of Alabama, has the exclusive franchise rights to conduct all mercantile activity on campus. No other mercantile activity shall therefore be permitted without the permission of the University Supply Store.
Hanging Banner Procedure
UA Departments who wish to hang and/or display banners on The University of Alabama Student Center (UASC) grounds must have prior approval by a designated professional staff member of the UASC. A banner request with proof of concept must be submitted via the UASC Advertising and Signage Request Form at least two weeks in advance for review. Banners will not be approved if they contain discriminatory or obscene language, graphics, insignia, etc. or if they are commercial in nature. Banners displayed on Student Center grounds can be displayed in two-week increments and cannot exceed a total exposure time of one month. All banners will be placed in designated locations and out of reach of general patrons. Banners hung on Student Center grounds will need to have grommet holes and will need to be placed by UA Facilities via a work order with a FOPAL or positioned by a designee of the UASC. The University of Alabama Student Center reserves the right to deny any request for displaying a banner that conflicts with the directives and mission of the University of Alabama Student Center and the University of Alabama, or that would cause damage or destruction to the grounds or facilities. The University of Alabama Student Center has the right to immediately remove any banner that has not gone through the proper approval process or that has become damaged since hanging or no longer in good aesthetic condition.
Banner Size Requirements
- Promenade/Seal Entrance: 8’x8’ or smaller.
- Great Hall: 8’(L) x 14’(W) or smaller
- Plaza: 3’(H) x 12’ (W) or smaller for railing
- Plaza: 6’ (H) x 12’ (W) or smaller for columns
Plastic Yard Sign Procedure
UA Departments or student organizations who wish to place and/or display Yard Signs on The University of Alabama Student Center (UASC) grounds must have prior approval by a designated professional staff member of the UASC. A yard sign request with proof of concept must be submitted via the UASC Advertising and Signage Request Form at least two weeks in advance for review. Yard Signs will not be approved if they contain discriminatory or obscene language, graphics, insignia, etc. or if they are commercial in nature. Yard Signs displayed on Student Center grounds can be displayed in two-week increments and cannot exceed a total exposure time of one month. Yard Signs placed on Student Center grounds can only be placed in designated locations or by the approval of a UASC professional staff representative. The University of Alabama Student Center reserves the right to deny any request for displaying a yard sign that conflicts with the directives and mission of the University of Alabama Student Center and the University of Alabama, or that would cause damage or destruction to the grounds or facilities. The University of Alabama Student Center has the right to immediately remove any yard that has not gone through the proper approval process or that has become damaged since placement or is no longer in good aesthetic condition. The University of Alabama Student Center (UASC) reserves the right to deny, limit, or revoke any yard sign requests or placements at the discretion of UASC professional staff. Such decisions may be made for any reason deemed appropriate, including but not limited to alignment with UASC and University directives, mission, aesthetics, and preservation of grounds and facilities
